F1 Qualifying modification?

I think the way Qualifying in F1 is run could be improved. Have any of you seen top gear? They run the Power Laps with the car starting from a standstill, and running one glory lap. I think that F1 Qualifying should be run like this. It would eliminate the problem of running into traffic on the circuit, and it wouldn't ruin the tires. I think one hot lap would reward driving skill, as one could not make any mistakes. It would also reward the driver's talent at starting the car, which i think is not used very often. What do you think?
