What do you think of Harnesses("leashes") for toddlers?

Everytime I have saw a kid on a leash I thought it looked a little ridiculous but now I have a 14 month old son who loves to run but will not hold my hand. He is not bad behaved at all (nor does he understand that he can't go wherever he wants) because he is so young. The other day I was trying to do my banking and a complete stranger was calling him over and he was trying his best to get away from me. I Broke my back when I was younger so it is really hard for me to carry him everywhere and constantly bend over. He hates being confined in a stroller he loves to be independant and walk by himself. I am thinking of getting one of those harnesses that are a stuffed animal backpack. My sister thinks people will judge me and think I am irresponsible. I am obviously going to be watching my son the entire time and it's not so I can be lazy, I just think he will feel better having a little more independance and it will keep him safe. I wouldn't use it all the time, but we are going to marine land and I know he won't want to be in a stroller the whole time so maybe that would be good to let him walk around a little bit. What do you guys think? Does it look bad or what? I usually don't care what people think but I just want others opnions on this. It's not that I am lazy or can't control him, I just think it might work for both of us. Please don't be rude! Thanks! :)

I don't have it, I have the single and loved it, so we went to the store and tried pushing this one around a bit when I was expecting my daughter (my son wasn't even 2), and I found it extremely heavy, bulky and difficult to get around corners. Best thing to do is go to the store and push one around to see how you feel about it. I have the Phil and Ted's sport, great for me (light, adaptable, not too big to fit on public transport), but I wouldn't overly recommend it - my daughter outgrew the double kit at 18mths, the tires are constantly getting punctured and it's a nightmare to fold when the doubles kit is attached.

I just built a huge cage and run for my rabbits in the backyard. I live in the country so there is probably a lot of fleas, ticks and small insects. As the title says in my attempts to watch Star Trek online I got caught up in some nastiness which isn't all that uncommon from free movie sites which led to a Trojan getting on my computer. I have both Nortan Antivirus and Malwarebytes installed and went to work with both. I am a Daycare Provider and I will give you my perspective. Good, PROFESSIONAL Providers, like Kim, are very consistent with their expectations. The children learn the rules and follow them because of the Provider's expectations and the peer influence. I also take my children on walking trips to the park. I also allow the children to run ahead on the sidewalk. They know to stop at the "yellow bumps" at the corner and if anyone goes on the street they will be in big trouble. (They have to sit on the bench at the park for a timeout. Heartbreaking!) Trust your gut and if you REALLY don't like the idea of your child walking to the park you should choose another Provider but you may be missing out on a really great program if you do!

Exercising with a high demand baby?

Hi all! For a while now I've been trying to work out to some new work out DVD's that I bought. Our baby is 10 months old now so I don't have any excuses left for not losing the last 10lbs lol! Here's the problem: baby takes 2-3 naps in the day but he refuses to go to sleep unless I'm holding him or sleeping next to him in bed (we're working on this but it's harder than I thought it would be). my fiancee is at work all day and by the time he comes home, I'm just too tired to workout. I walk him in his stroller when the weather permits but now that it's getting hot, it happens less often. I also try to do things while I'm holding baby but he gets antsy quick and I'm definitely ready for some more hard core exercise lol! Any ideas on how to keep him satisfied during my workouts? He's a very demanding baby and only manages to keep himself occupied for about 20-25 minutes (an improvement from just a couple of months ago) and he's also teething so he's cranky about 24/7 lol! We have NO ONE to watch him and going to the gym is financially impossible right now. If you are doing a lot of walking, which if you don't have a car and live in the city I assume you are, tandems are very hard to maneuver and are very bulky. It's hard to turn them down isles and heavier so your pushing a ton of weight on top of the weight of the babies. I bought a tandem when I was still pregnant with my twins and it was used one time before I bought two umbrella strollers and an adapter for 5 dollars at a yard sale. I paid $200.00 for the tandem and 5 for the umbrella, a little bitter about that, but the umbrella was much better. For the twins first birthday my grandma bought me a Jeep side by side, because she just didn't think the one I had was safe, anyway I really like it. Very light weight very easy to get the twins in an out. The only downfall is that it doesn't have an area where you can put drinks or carry bags. I have to put my purse over one handle and a mesh bags for things I buy on the other. I think my grandparents paid around 90 for it.

my sil has not been able to have a baby after neing married for some years, so i sympathize. Every Saturday I take two 5mg percocets to get high. I don't believe it's a problem and I am certainly not addicted. I mean seriously... Once a week is no harm! When my daughter was 2 she could walk for an hour but not in the direction I needed her to. When we walked in the forest I would just let her go and follow her but when we needed to walk an hour to my mother's house once a week I needed the stroller. We would just not have got there. Cut out Carbs for Weight loss?????week 1?

I have a family trip coming up and decided last week was time to kick it into high gear and start my weight loss journey. I cut out ALL Breads,Pasta,Potatoes, and chips. I am eliminating most carbs but still eating apples. I have lost 2 lbs so i am healthly losing. I am excersizing 4-5 times a week doing 40 min on elliptical and some crunches and ab moves. I was wondering if cutting out carbs will be effective in the weeks to come. I was obsessed with potatoes and at 5'3 150 lbs it showed!! I want to ideally be 125 so currently at 148 i am making progress. What do you think about my change.....also i eat eggs for breakfast ALWAYS a salad for lunch with chicken or not and lots of veggies for dinner and some chicken. i try to add almonds or fruit/veg as a snack. For dessert some lite cool whip and strawberries.(1200 calories daily) Is this a good weight loss Strategy???

So to make this story short and sweet, I know what my boyfriend's FB password is. And I guess this was wrong on my part, but I logged in and looked around. I came across some messages with a girl that I know from school...and she wanted weed. And when it comes to that, it's just something I hate. That he is involved with that sometimes, but this time to make matters worse he is talking to this girl about giving her weed. I could sense a bit of a flirty vibe from what he wrote and the conversation went on to talk about ,how she didn't have any money in exchange if he did give her any weed, and what seemed to be joking around on his part saying, that she could give him head in return and they could meet at a pool nearby and he could smoke her up...didn't seem so joking anymore. She kept saying "you have a gf not going to do it" and so on, and he said I know that it's not really an option. And anyway the conversation ended by her, continuing to say how she had absolutely no money and he said "the other option is looking better huh?? :)" and she once again said "you have a girlfriend so that eliminates that " and then he said "secrets". What is that you know? That he will keep it from me? Well,despite this whole deal, I really want to confront him about it, but I know it was wrong on my part to be snooping on his fb. My heart won't slow down?

I've been completely off antidepressants for about a month and even though I'm not doing very well off of them, I'm still functioning enough to go to work and do my sport which is riding horses, and blah blah. It is all I can do to not get so frustrated at work since I work retail and you have to have TONS of patience with customers and those coupons and coworkers stealing your sales. It's all I can do not to walk out but so far, I've managed to stay inside and keep the job. I am very stressed out about money, and feeling like I'm going nowhere in life, which I'm really not. Each day is just the same, with no moving forward. But I refuse to take the medication again bc I'm angry and stubborn and don't want the chemicals. When I'm about to get my period, it's like c'mere let me strangle you. I take evening primrose, St. Johns Wart and 5-Htp but really, I just started the last two today. I'm thinking being off the antidepressants is making my heart race like this. I have a cardiologist appt on monday. I'm on beta blockers but they only have been stopping my heart from pounding but it still races. In all, I feel terrible. But I have been in therapy for 6 years and have skills to deal with this. I'm just trying to hold on, keep going, putting one foot in front of the other. I'm scared I'll keep feeling worse. I feel like I need anger management at work. Being at the mall full time is WAY overstimulating for me, who is laid-back, type B, and introverted. This is all very hard. It hurts a lot. It's hard to find a new job, I feel helpless. At times, I feel alien to the world. I look at people and it's like they aren't even the same species as me. Sometimes, when I'm in the crowded mall, there are freakin people everywhere and it feels like a plague. I stop bc someone ran into me, crushed my foot with their baby stroller, or cut in front of me, and I just try to make all the noise seem far away. it's like in the movies when someone is thinking or stressed and everything blurs out and spins and spins around them, and they are standing there and all the noise is far away and they are staring into space. I'm so immature sometimes. I don't know where I got this notion that someone is going to save me, but it's all I wish for sometimes. I feel like I'm dependent and lazy. All I want is to be free. I just built a huge cage and run for my rabbits in the backyard. I live in the country so there is probably a lot of fleas, ticks and small insects. I was BF our 10 month son up until a month ago. I thought he was weaning but by the time I figured out that he was on a nursing strike, it was too late. For BF reasons, I din't mind him sleeping in bed with me but things have gotten worse. He won't even take a nap if I'm not laying in bed holding him. I tried getting him to sleep in his car seat and stroller but that didn't work. I even moved his crib right next to my bed and removed the side rail. Not only does he throw a fit whenever I try to get him to sleep in it, he's actually thrown up because he cried so hard even though I was right there comforting him and holding his hand. Transfering him there after he falls asleep also fails. Even when we are sleeping at night, he constantly wakes up to make sure he's touching me or that I'm holding him. I don't mind him sleeping with me at night but I'm confined to my bed whenever he takes a nap because he could roll off the bed if I'm not there and most days I have to wake him up anyway just so I can get to the bathroom in time. Don't forget, Karl Marx and the rest of the "party" were very intelligent people too, however theories are only theories until they are practiced in actuality. If you really want to do the educated thing (which it seems you are on the right track of currently) look into some of the counter arguments to what you believe/think. In a worst case scenario you will realize where you were wrong and grow through it (which looking back is I'm glad for, as I've been there many times), and if you're right, you can strengthen your beliefs with knowledge and counter-counter arguments.

How late would a 3 year old stay up at Disney World?

I am trying to figure out the best time for our first visit with our baby daughter. If we go in April she would be 3 months shy of 3 years old, and if we go in October she would be 3 years 3 months. We have been to Disney many times but that was before we had kids. I would like know how late she could stay up at Disney World. Most of the fireworks are around 9pm. Would she just fall asleep in the stroller or would we have to go back to the resort for bedtime, which is probably going to be earlier than that? She would be charged for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, $55...but it is from 7pm-12am.. would she be awake?

Tandem/double strollers?

We have a 7 month old and are considering trying for another soon. If they end up being close enough in age to justify a double stroller, then we will probably go with the double version of the stroller we already have (Baby Jogger City Mini Double). It is a side-by-side, which just seems more managable to me, even if it is a little wider. Plus, it just seems nicer to put your kids next to each other so that they can each see everything in front of them rather than plunking one behind the other.

Okay, I picked my 2 year old son, 4 year old daughter, and my 1 year old daughter up from their baby sitter's house. We stopped at McDonald's drive thru , ate, drank. We got back in the car and I decided to go to the mall. Eliza (4 y/o) wanted new shoes and a new shirt. So I thought what the heck, let's get 'em all some new clothes!! Well, I had a large drink at McDonald's and felt the need to pee on the ride there. I thought I could hold it. We ran into construction for as long as it took to get my kids asleep. I wasn't just going to turn around and go home now. We live like a 30 minute to an hour away. I waited in traffic and they opened the lanes. Finally I thought! I really felt the pee coming on! I woke the kids up while I was driving and had Eliza unbuckle the other 2. I knew I was about to pee on myself so I ran up to the entrance, thinking they had the bathrooms up there. Sadly for me, they were closed for cleaning. I heard Eliza "Mommy, I have to go potty!" Oh great, I thought. Both of us had to go. She said she couldn't hold it. There we were in the middle of the store both of us running, each pushing a stroller. If you asked me, it looked HILARIOUS! It wasn't though. I stopped. Eliza's eyes widened and she said: Uh oh! She had started to pee on herself. I said Hurry Eliza! Turn around go back to the car. We turned around, hoping I wouldn't humiliate myself. Oh great. I felt a little pee drop out. I started running full speed. I knew I couldn't just grab myself right there to keep it from coming out. There it was. I couldn't hold it any longer. The pee just flowed out of me like Niagara Falls! What activities can I do with my almost four year old who has his arm in a sling?

My son was at my parents house and fell off their slide, fracturing his humorous bone. He is now in a sling. The doctor doesn't want him to do any running and doesn't want us to take him to the park because he could fall and break it worse. That means that we're basically stuck in the house because anywhere new we take him he likes to run. Okay, so I have a 5 month old brother. I also have a 3 year old brother too. My mom only had the baby so that way my brother would have someone to play with, which if you think about it it's kinda messed up. She technically didn't even want the baby for herself. F1 Qualifying modification?

I think the way Qualifying in F1 is run could be improved. Have any of you seen top gear? They run the Power Laps with the car starting from a standstill, and running one glory lap. I think that F1 Qualifying should be run like this. It would eliminate the problem of running into traffic on the circuit, and it wouldn't ruin the tires. I think one hot lap would reward driving skill, as one could not make any mistakes. It would also reward the driver's talent at starting the car, which i think is not used very often. What do you think?

Thrift stores and Cragslist are great for baby stuff, just make sure it isn't recalled. The only thing I would spend on, is the baby sling/carrier. You can find many in thrift stores, but most are WalMart/Sears/ and that type of store junk slings that are unsafe or uncomfortable. Look at baby wearing websites for ideas on a good carrier. I have a Slingling pouch, and a ring-sling from a href="http://www.attachedtobaby.com/" rel="nofollow"http://www.attachedtobaby.com//a and don't fall for the Seven Sling 'free sling, just pay shipping'. Baby wear-ers have been giving this sling poor reviews. As for car seats, are you going straight for a convertible seat from birth? (the Cosco Scenera is great, and will last you about 4 years for under $40 at WalMart). Or do you want to bother with an infant seat (that lasts less than a year)? As for a stroller, you can find these without the infant seat, as long as it reclines you can use it for a young baby. Bedding; sheets, a mattress protector (if you go WalMart, pay the extra $2 and get the Sealy brand, not the WalMart one. much nicer) , and a not-to-thick blanket. For chilly days use a blanket sleeper. And check into those swaddling blankets. Our lil guy lived in his! This was the only way we could get him to sleep.
